Two Funding opportunities related to Connected and Automated Vehicle projects were recently announced:

First, the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) is part of the Transportation Pooled Fund’s AV Pool Fund Study, which has just released a Request for Proposals (RFP) entitled: ODOT 2021-03C Guidance for Sustainable Integration of Automated Transportation Technologies.
This is a research project to develop guidance that fosters an understanding for local and state governments to use in planning to integrate automated transportation technologies into the existing transportation network. Purposes can include improved safety, mobility, and accessibility. Information on the project, process, and requirements is available here. The RFP submission deadline is Thursday, November 30, 2023 at 3:00 PM EST.
Second, the US Department of Transportation (USDOT) released a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for the Saving Lives with Connectivity: Accelerating Vehicle to Everything (V2X) Deployment grant opportunity to advance interoperable connected vehicle technologies. The $40 Million NOFO is published in Grants.gov (search using “693JJ324NF00003”) or can be accessed directly at the above link.

According to the USDOT website, the initiative is focused on “road safety, mobility, and efficiency through technology that enables vehicles and wireless devices to communicate with each other and with roadside infrastructure and provide warnings. V2X can contribute to the Safe System Approach adopted by the USDOT’s National Roadway Safety Strategy, a comprehensive approach launched in January 2022 to address the crisis of roadway deaths.”
This grant program was developed using funds provided under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law supporting the USDOT’s Intelligent Transportation Systems Joint Program Office (ITS JPO) program. This opportunity is part of an initiative focused on road safety, mobility, and efficiency through technology that enables vehicles and wireless devices to communicate with each other and with roadside infrastructure to provide warnings. The application deadline is January 17, 2024.
