The U.S. Census Bureau announced revised release dates for the next set of 2020 Census data products, starting with the release of the Demographic Profile and the Demographic and Housing Characteristics File (DHC) in May 2023.
The Census Bureau stated the revised schedule enables them to take the time needed to produce the high-quality statistics the public expects. This was due largely to COVID-19 impacts on data collection, as well as the need for accurate processing and meeting confidentiality requirements; these data releases come later than the corresponding releases in the 2010 Census.
