Archeology Volunteer Volunteer at last year’s Annual Field Session in Archeology, sponsored by the Archeological Society of Maryland and the Maryland Historical Trust.

While April must come to an end, and with it Maryland Archeology Month, your opportunities to get involved in Maryland archeology continue throughout the year.  The Maryland Archeology Month website lists many exciting post-April events.  Here’s a sampling:

  • Volunteer with the War of 1812 dig at Hampstead Hill in Patterson Park in Baltimore City!  This project will continue throughout most of May.  You can volunteer for as little as half a day, or get dirty five days a week (Tuesday through Saturday).  VisitBaltimore Heritage to learn more
  • Be an “archeologist for a day” (or many days!) at the Maryland Historical Trust’s Jefferson Patterson Park and Museum in Calvert County annual Public Archeology Program beginning May 7th and continuing through June.  Volunteers are welcome every Wednesday, Friday, and…
