Wendi Peters’ Experience Spans Local, State Government

Yesterday, Wendi Peters, a Mount Airy native, was sworn in as Secretary of the Maryland Department of Planning (Planning) by Governor Larry Hogan after being appointed earlier this month.

As Deputy Secretary of Planning for the last 18 months, Peters had taken a lead role in reorganizing the department, crafting a strategic plan to guide its mission, and refocusing its efforts to assist local government develop their vision for their communities. She has also been involved with several key state projects and served as the department’s liaison to the Maryland Heritage Areas Authority.
