David Marin joined the Maryland Department of Planning as a GIS Planner in June, 2019. Since starting, his primary responsibility has been assisting Planning’s Property Mapping Unit in keeping tax map products for Maryland’s twenty-three counties and Baltimore City up to date.
David earned his bachelor’s degree in Geography and Environmental Planning from Towson University, where he developed his GIS skills and made it his mission to take as many metropolitan studies courses as he could. Upon graduating, he began his professional career as a GIS Analyst with a local engineering firm where he assisted in field data collection, managing geospatial databases, and providing general cartographic support for transportation planning and environmental engineering projects.
In his free time, you may find David out and about Baltimore photographing the interaction between shadow and light in both urban and natural landscapes, spending time with his fiancée, Alex (one of their favorite haunts is Dave and Buster’s for the food and arcade games, of course!), re-watching the Back to the Future trilogy, or at home playing board games with friends. Alex and David are also proud “parents” of Amelia and Amadeus, their two cats.
David says he is very excited to be here and looks forward to serving the department in any way he can. Welcome to Planning, David!
