MDOT Launches Annual Statewide Transportation Investment Tour

Planning in Progress

by Kristen E. Humphrey, MLA, Local Assistance and Training Planner

Each fall, the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) conducts a tour of 23 Maryland counties and Baltimore City to update local officials and the public on transportation investments around the state.

Specifically, MDOT will present the Hogan administration’s six-year Draft FY 2021-2026 Consolidated Transportation Program (CTP), which invests $13.4 billion in Maryland’s transportation network, for review and comment from the jurisdictions. MDOT then prepares a final budget to present to the General Assembly in January. Above and beyond this funding, the Maryland Transportation Authority is investing another $2.846 billion in toll roads and bridges.

This year the tour was launched on September 16 in Frederick County and will take place through November 10, 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s tour will be conducted virtually rather than via in-person meetings.

For more information and a complete list of dates, times and locations, can be found here. To view the Draft CTP, visit: www.ctp.maryland.gov. You can also follow MDOT on Twitter at @MDOTNews and stay updated on the CTP Tour with #MDOTCTPtour.
