MPCA Corner
by Joseph Griffiths, AICP, Local Assistance and Training Manager
In our May 27 edition of Planning Practice Monthly, we announced that the MPCA was accepting session proposals for its 39th annual conference. You can now register to join the Maryland Planning Commissioners Association (MPCA) for its 39th annual conference in Frederick on October 25-26.
This year’s conference theme is Planning for Challenges on the Horizon. Uncertainties of the past few years remain, and so do challenges on the horizon. In a planning community navigating its way through the pandemic while simultaneously tackling the difficult issues of the 21st century, the benefits of a functioning and thriving citizen planning board are more apparent than ever.
The important work of citizen planners continues, and the MPCA can’t wait to gather once again, share insights, and learn about new and emerging planning trends that can benefit our communities. The conference will offer topics of interest to the more than 1,400 citizen planners serving Maryland’s counties and municipalities. The MPCA is still finalizing the 2022 conference agenda and venue and will share it when available.
To learn more about the conference and register, please visit the 39th Annual Maryland Planning Commissioners Association webpage. Sponsorship opportunities are also available.
If you have questions about the conference, or are interested in getting involved, please contact Joe Griffiths, Local Assistance and Training Manager for the Maryland Department of Planning, at joseph.griffiths@maryland.gov.
