The Appalachian Regional Commission Announces 2022 Annual Conference

ARC is excited to co-host its 2022 annual conference titled One Appalachia: Connection & Collaboration with the state of Maryland, October 17-19, at the Rocky Gap Resort in Flintstone, Maryland.  
 
This event will highlight how ARC’s 13 states and 423 counties are collaborating to bring each of ARC’s strategic investments to life. The conference will feature ARC partners who work daily to strengthen Appalachia by creating and expanding workforce development, growing sectors like outdoor recreation, developing entrepreneurs, and building leadership and community capacity.

Planning Commissioner Training Course Goes Digital

In a typical Maryland Summer, the Maryland Planning Commissioners Association (MPCA), in partnership with the Maryland Department of Planning (Planning) conducts in person Planning Commissioner Training Courses at the Maryland Municipal League (MML) and Maryland Association of Counties (MACo) Summer Conferences in Ocean City. This is anything but a typical summer. In response, the MPCA hosted a digital training session on July 21, with 108 people joining on Planning’s GoToWebinar Platform.

MPCA Holding Its 36th Annual Conference in November

Registration is now open for the 36th Annual Maryland Planning Commissioners Association (MPCA) Conference in Aberdeen, to be held November 6-7, 2019. The theme for this year is Meeting the Trends, Embracing the Future, and the agenda will be filled with sessions on timely topics that Maryland’s citizen planning boards currently face and will likely face in the future. The MPCA decided on this theme following two regional workshops this year (Hagerstown, Annapolis), at which participants expressed an interest in learning more about strategies to address emerging trends in the areas of housing, redevelopment, and public engagement.  See the recently posted notes from the Hagerstown and Annapolis meetings on the MPCA webpage.
