Walking is an activity that’s part of daily life for many Marylanders and is recognized as a healthy transportation choice. In fact, walking is Maryland’s official state exercise!

But with issues of pedestrian safety and access, many communities recognize that walking, and improving the walkability of our neighborhoods, requires both public attention and public action.

On Wednesday, October 7th, Marylanders throughout the State celebrated the 6th annual Walk Maryland Day. The weather was perfect, and the celebration was a huge success thanks to all the Walk Leaders, Sole Mates, and Sole-O walkers who took time out of their day to go for a walk.
