The Environmental Protection Agency defines a brownfield as a “property, the expansion, redevelopment, or reuse of which may be complicated by the presence or potential presence of a hazardous substance, pollutant, or contaminant.”
The guidelines for EPA’s FY22 brownfield grants were recently made available on EPA’s website. The available brownfield grants include Assessment Grants, Revolving Loan Fund Grants, and Cleanup Grants.
Except for the State and Tribal Response Program Grant application, which is due December 17, grant applications are due December 1. Details about eligibility and available funding amounts for each type of grant are available within the grant guidelines at the link listed above.
To provide additional guidance to applicants, EPA will be hosting a Grant Guideline Outreach Webinar on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. Click the link below to join the webinar on the date and time:
The Maryland Department of Planning Brownfield Redevelopment Assistance Program is also available to help connect you to brownfield resources, expert contacts, and assist with grant organization, preparation, and review.
