The Maryland Department of Commerce Seeks Your Input on Renewable Energy Projects and Maryland Military Installations

As part of the Maryland Renewable Energy Compatible Siting Project, described in the February 18, 2021 Planning Practice Monthly, the Maryland Department of Commerce has distributed a survey to guage  support for initiatives, policies, and processes that could facilitate the compatible siting of renewable energy facilities with Maryland’s military installations. The department is seeking responses to the brief survey by August 20.

Sarah Diehl, AICP, joined the Maryland Department of Planning (Planning) in January 2021 as our only team member to be interviewed, hired, and on-boarded entirely remotely and mid-pandemic. Truly an other-worldly experience about which Sarah simply says, “I cannot wait to meet the rest of Planning in person rather than through a computer screen!”

Spillman Consulting, Inc. to Develop Maryland’s New Compatible Use Website and Handbook

The Maryland Department of Planning (Planning) has selected Spillman Consulting, Inc., in partnership with SIA Solutions, LLC, and Stantec Consulting Services, Inc., to develop the state’s first compatible use website and handbook, aimed at supporting compatible land use with Maryland’s 20 military installations and their surrounding communities.
