Planning is developing a new online resource called the Land Preservation Dashboard

Planning in Progress

The Land Preservation Dashboard  is designed to provide users with a clear understanding of how Maryland is meeting its agricultural and environmental land preservation goals. The categories displayed in the dashboard represent various federal, state, local, and private land preservation programs that seek to preserve different types of land such as farmland, timberland, parks, forests, wetlands, riparian zones, and wildlife corridors. It is scheduled for release later this summer.

The dashboard draws from data developed by Planning, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, and the Maryland Department of Agriculture.  By providing helpful background information on land preservation and by displaying the location and number of acres preserved in each category on an interactive map and in charts, the dashboard reveals state and local progress toward meeting land preservation goals and is presented in a way that is user-friendly and visually appealing.

Everyone from policymakers, planners, local governments, conservation organizations, and the general public will find the dashboard useful and enlightening. To learn more about the dashboard, contact Jason Dubow, Manager, Resource Conservation & Management at jason.dubow@maryland.gov or (410) 767-3370.

Stay tuned for more information and the official launch date to be announced soon!
